So I didn’t intend on getting this month’s box. After two stellar boxes, I had a feeling a bit of a clunker was coming. I cancelled it on the 5th, but got the email on the 10th telling me my box was shipping. I emailed them, and they said that I had to have cancelled before the first of the month. So keep that in mind. I wasn’t disappointed with my box, but I wasn’t suuuper thrilled.
This month Birchbox was introducing their first in-house make up line Love of Color or LOC. It’s a very cute line of eyeshadow sticks and lip sticks. There was going to be one of these new products in every box, you were supposed to be able to choose your sample, but I couldn’t because I am dumb and the site wasn’t letting me.
If I had the choice, this would not have been the product I picked, BUT I love this. The colour is great, the formula is smooth and it just glides on. On Point is a champagne colour, and I think would be very flattering on everyone. It would also make a good highlighter as well. It will go well with my Naked 2 palette. I’m super into this product.
Birchbox says they don’t ever send you the same product twice, but they get around this by sending you the same product in different colours or scents. I literally got this in my September box, just in a different scent. I like masks, I just don’t use them very often. While I don’t hate this, I’m not over the moon about it. I’ll use it, just eventually.
I’m very in on the packaging. As a sports fan, I love when my love of make up and sports come together. This is pretty much the only instance of this happening. I like this product, the colour is nice, the payoff is nice, but holy S this is the world’s smallest effing sample. Like, it’s tiny. Like half an eyeshadow tiny. I could barely stick my brush in there. It could be used as an eyeshadow, but I prefer my shadows a little on the brown side rather than in the pink family.
I was excited to get a hair mask, because unlike face masks, I definitely use these on the reg so I can run a brush through my hair. When I opened this one, I was taken aback by the color. It is the brightest blue. It reminded me of some icy hot stuff my dad used to use back in the day. The smell was not great, but I soldiered on and tried this. It wasn’t as effective as my usual mask, and I just found a huge knot in my hair. Which may or may not have anything to do with the mask.
I just don’t get down with perfume samples. I never use them. I knew in my heart that this was coming, which was one of the reasons I wanted to cancel. This is probably the best scent I’ve received. It’s light and citrusy. BUT, it wasn’t until I came to write this and looked at my Birchbox online did I see that I was SUPPOSED to receive an under eye concealer instead of this. After that I was suuuper disappointed as I look borderline walking dead these days and could have really used it.
This box turned out better than I thought it would, so that’s a plus. And now I have $30 to spend in the Birchbox store!! But what should I get?! I wish the Canadian store had more of the sample packs like the US store, but what are you going to do. If you’re interested in Birchbox AND getting me referral points, use this link.
