Yesterday, Canada’s best basketball player, Steve Nash, announced his retirement. After almost two decades playing in the NBA, he decided to call it a career after a tumultuous few years riddled with various injuries.
It’s sad to say goodbye to one of the most prolific players in basketball and my personal favourite, but it’s been an honour to watch his career and call him one of our own. Nash said in his retirement article that he was looking forward to spending more time with his family, but already misses the sport.
This won’t be the last we’ll see of Nash around the sport, as the two-time MVP award winner is the General Manager of Canada’s senior national team. I’m looking forward to seeing Nash lead Tristan Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and the rest of the national team to future titles.
Never forget, I love you Steve Nash, and so does Nelly Furtado.
